Rationale

dbt is the tool of Fluid Attacks for data transformation, documentation, and integrated testing.

These are the primary reasons why Fluid Attacks selected it and not other alternatives:

• It does not tie Fluid Attacks to a BI provider.
• It operates without problems with many database providers.
• It operates with SQL.
• It supports many data stages.
• It manages pipeline execution without help.
• It gives many different tests, and you can make your own tests.

Alternatives

Fluid Attacks examined these alternatives, but it did not select them for these reasons:

LookML

• It is tied to Looker as a BI provider.
• It does not have testing capabilities.
• It is not as flexible as plain SQL.

Usage

Fluid Attacks uses dbt for these tasks:
